Energy 4 + 3 habits that constantly consume our energy and ways to fix it.
Today we will analyse the 4 of them so that we can look at them in a little more detail. Not as a list that you just read.
It’s amazing how some of your daily habits have the biggest impact on your energy. Making you feel tired and less productive.
What is energy?
Energy is the ability to produce work. You and I need a certain level of physical, mental and emotional energy to work at all times. But energy is a limited resource.
It decreases in volume as we use it. This explains why we sometimes feel exhausted and tired. When you have no energy, you can’t produce, so your work is done.
In the morning when your energy level is high, you make decisions faster and better.
Often, decision fatigue begins to set in because your spiritual resource is being depleted.
Also, physical exhaustion and emotional exhaustion can result from the same reason.
So protecting yourself from habits that exhaust you may be the key.
To improve your energy, productivity, happiness and success.
However, more than anything else, it is our habits that consume our energy.
They make us less productive and unhappy.
What are these habits?
1. You try hard to please others.
It is extremely tiring and energy consuming when you’re constantly trying to prove yourself to other people. Whether it’s your boss, husband, teacher or parents. When you want to make everyone happy, you will always make yourself unhappy.
Because you will always act for others and according to their expectations and desires.
This is a dangerous path that will always drain your energy.
It will make you neglect your own needs and leave you unhappy and chronically stressed.
-What you need to do.
Learn to know your limits, set them clearly and then communicate those limits.
Recognise that relationships are based on “give and take”. Remain firm in saying no when you are not ready for something. Do not expend your energy.
2.You practice harsh self-criticism.
Constant criticism and judging yourself can be exhausting.
It consumes a large energy reserve. It often results from a poor sense of self and a feeling of unworthiness. When you think you are not responding in some way. Like feeling like you’re not talented enough-you’ll feel mostly unworthy. You will judge yourself harshly. You will exaggerate your weakness and obsess over your flaws and blind spots. Let’s face it: If you don’t see anything positive in yourself, how will you ever feel energized, happy and capable.
-What you need to do.
Practice self-compassion. You must learn to treat yourself with love and encouragement. This will make you feel happier and more at peace with yourself. You will have more energy. Celebrate your victories, praise your efforts and be kind to your defeats. Congratulate yourself and just for trying.
3.Keep anger and resentment inside.
Poison is not always something you eat or drink, it can also be a feeling. Anger and resentment are among the most poisonous emotions we can have and feel. According to psychology, they are typical examples of high-intensity negative emotions that can wear you down physically, emotionally and mentally. Also these emotions use a large share of your energy.
Often, these feelings arise because you are still “living in the past”. Mostly painful incidents from the past. You still hold a grudge about who insulted or hurt you. If you want to move forward, you must have the courage to let go of your negative past.
To continue to feel hurt, angry and resentful about what has happened will never serve any useful purpose. Only spending your energy unnecessarily. As Siddhartha Buddha once said: Holding anger is like catching a lit coal with the intention of throwing it at someone else. You’re the one who’s burning.
Instead, what is going to liberate and energize your life is to be able to move on from the past. Free your mind from its poisonous influence.
-What you need to do.
Start with self-awareness. Realize what makes you angry and resentful. If there is a painful past experience then give it time. Edit. Note how it makes you feel.
4.Anxiety and overthinking.
People worry when they want to predict the future. They spend their energy trying to control how different situations may or may not happen. Most of the time, worrying about things you cannot control is an exercise in futility. It will only lead to feelings of anxiety and worry, anxiety and depression. The same is true of overthinking. You don’t achieve anything by overthinking. It does not create a better result. All it does is drain your energy and wear you down physically.
-What to do
Identify what you cannot control and focus on what you can control. When you focus on what you can control, you regain your power to feel how you want to feel.
Of course, it is not easy to change habits overnight. But if there is awareness in our behaviour and we know what is wrong with us then we can change it, we can fix it. In the next article we will analyze the other 3 habits that constantly consume our energy. And we will share what we can do to change it.
