Have you ever looked at the clock and had a half heart attack?
It’s the one where you put on your pajamas with one hand, look for a blouse with the other, and hold the phone on your shoulder to call to say you’re on your way.
You think of all the possible ways to beam into your job, and you wonder why the hell teleportation hasn’t been invented yet!
What about makeup?
First of all, keep calm!
There is a way to save it. Always have the products I’m going to list handy and you’ll be able to have a decent makeup look in three minutes! A special solution for situations where time is not on your side!
Powder with coverage in your skin colour
Time as we said there is no time. By extension there is no room for placing liquid products and attention to detail. So get your hands on a wide powder brush that won’t leave a lot of powder behind. Make a sweep all over your face with a concealer powder in the exact colour of your skin, avoiding the eye area. The aim is to leave a thin layer of an otherwise covering product that will give your skin a uniform colour but without the risk of dripping.
Concealer
Concealer is a must. Especially if the reason you’re late is that you’re late to wake up. This is the product that will save your life and your professional image. Place a small amount in the darkest part of the eye (between the inner corner and the nose bone) and blot it downwards and outwards. The shade you use should be the same colour as your skin colour or slightly lighter. Just make sure the product is well erased on the trim!
Powder three tones darker than your skin
First of all, a powder three tones darker than your natural skin tone is the perfect matte product to contour or give a slightly more sun-kissed effect. It’s also much harder for something to go wrong in placement than a blush or a bronzer with shimmer. These products, if applied hastily and in a larger quantity than required, can complete half the heart attack you have already suffered from the watch. So opt for this slightly darker powder to accentuate your cheekbones. You can also make a pass on the upper eyelid of your eye and use it as a natural shadow.
Lip Balm with a little color
A moisturizing lip balm, for starters, will do wonders for the texture and appearance of your lips. On top of that, if it has a light tint, it can be used to highlight your lips and make them look more groomed instead of a gloss or lipstick. However, with such a transparent product, it is impossible to make a mistake or make the result look “smeared”
Mascara
Like every other time, the final step to complete your look is to highlight your lashes. Emphasize the upper lashes with the mascara brush and avoid the lower lashes. Ideally, this step should not be taken in haste. But if you do and something goes wrong DON’T PANIC. Give it some time. Put on your shoes, check your bag, put on your perfume and five minutes after it’s dry, take a cotton swab and clean the stained area.
Of course, to all this you can add whatever else pleases you. As long as it’s a product you know well and has a small margin for error.
VERY IMPORTANT: do your makeup in good light to avoid unpleasant surprises when you go out!
You’re ready. Lock up and leave. And if you’re anything like me, confirm that you locked up so you don’t have to think about it!
Your day may have started a bit “kinda”, but I hope the rest of it is great!
