There are many ways to naturally exfoliate the skin. Coffee grounds, sugar, ground sea salt, cinnamon and oats are some of the best ingredients to use in a homemade exfoliating scrub. In particular, sugar facial scrubs can brighten dull skin and fight the signs of aging. Just make sure the sugar granules are very ground and small enough not to irritate the face.

When it comes to the “best homemade face scrub”, it all depends on your skin type, says Lorena Balensi of Balensi Spa. When choosing a DIY face scrub, look for one that is meant for your skin type and aimed at treating your skin problems. Ingredients such as salt and baking soda are best for oily or oil-prone skin, while those with dry or sensitive skin should opt for softer exfoliants such as oatmeal. If you have combination or normal skin, sugar and ground coffee provide a balanced first base.

The “best homemade face scrub”

  • Face scrub with strawberry that fights acne

Prevent (and cure) pimples with this fruity acne-fighting and soothing facial scrub. If you’re bothered by stubborn breakouts or dull, oily skin, this scrub will help brighten skin, cleanse and reduce bacteria.

Prescription:
1 cup of yoghurt, ½ cup of strawberry puree, A little apple cider vinegar

Mix all the ingredients and apply the mixture lightly to the skin. Leave on for 15 minutes, then rinse with warm water.

  • Moisturizing Face Scrub with cherry and honey

Use this honey face scrub whenever your skin needs a boost and nourishment at the same time.

Recipe: 5 cherries, 1 tablespoon of almond powder, 1/4 cup of honey, 1 tablespoon of brown sugar, 3 tablespoons of yoghurt

Mix the ingredients and gently rub the skin for 30 seconds and then rinse with warm water.

  • Lemon facial scrub for pimples and blackheads

Goodbye, goodbye black spots! Try a lemon juice scrub to get rid of them for good. Lemon juice has antiseptic properties that help kill bacteria. It is also excellent for reducing sebum and inflammation. Just be careful with the amount of lemon juice you use – it’s acidic, and can irritate the skin. In addition, because it can make your skin extremely sensitive to the sun, always apply sunscreen after use.

Recipe: ½ teaspoon of lemon, 1 tablespoon of salt, 1 teaspoon of clean/distilled water

Mix the ingredients well and rub the paste into the skin in a circular motion. Rub gently for two to three minutes, being careful not to rub too much. Rinse with warm water and follow the rest of your skincare routine.
