Lockdown until 28 February and see!!!! Nikos Chardalias : explanation of measures

After the announcement, verification and specification of the measures at 12:00 noon, by the Deputy Minister of Civil Protection and Crisis Management Nikos Chardalias, the data for Attica from tomorrow morning until the end of the month is as follows.

We are entering a total lockdown as coronavirus cases and intubations increase, while ICU occupancy is decreasing!

Total lockdown means

Closed hairdressers, beauty salons, nail centres, schools, all levels (primary, secondary and high schools) except for special education schools. Retailers, bookshops, OPAP agencies and florists are closed, with the exception of Valentine’s weekend, when they will be open by appointment.

Open to the lockdown will be

-Supermarkets: (Supermarkets on weekdays will be open until 20:00 and on Saturdays will close at 17:00)

– The farmers’ markets will be open at weekends at 50% of their capacity

— Mini-markets and kiosks

– Ovens/manufacturing, butchers

-The pharmacies

-The petrol stations

– The pet shop

The churches will be open for up to 9 people

Teleworking for 50% of private sector workers

SMS 13033- no intermunicipal travel
prohibited
Monday to Friday, curfew from 21:00 to 05:00 in the morning and weekend curfew traffic from 18:00 to 05:00.

As Mr. Chardalias “intermunicipal travel for exercise purposes is not prohibited” as it was felt that it is not necessary to change anything by moving using code “6” in 13033, but as is reasonable one cannot be too far away from their permanent residence just for a walk with their dog.

Professor of Pathology Haralambos Gagos, “no one can say with certainty that there will be no extension of the restrictions”

Speaking today on SKY TV, Professor of Pathology Charalambos Gagos, among others, referred to the need for an immediate decision of the hard lockdown as there was a rapid increase in hospital admissions and occupancy in ICUs as from 55% a few days ago they reached 63% and now 72%. Mr. Gagos stressed that the situation in Attica is not tragic “but it is very worrying” as several cases are seriously ill and entering hospitals.

He commented that although we try to stay ahead of the virus, “sometimes we are outpaced by its ability to spread”. Finally, he explained that the first visible results of the strict lockdown will be seen in 2.5 weeks but no one can say for sure that there will be no extension of the restrictions.
