How does it affect them?
The cold in combination with the wind and the changes in temperatures from outside to
indoor space causes static electricity and dehydration of the scalp skin and
by extension to the hair, causing the hair to split and break!
You may have noticed that with sudden changes in temperature, our skin is quite affected, our lips become dehydrated and our skin cracks.
Somehow the same thing happens to our hair.
How are you going to deal with it?
-Don’t forget to drink water during the cold months.
-Hydration with hair mask.
-Don’t wash your hair with hot water, which causes more dehydration to the skin and hair.
-Avoid vigorous rubbing with the towel after shampooing.
-Carefully comb with combs that have sparse teeth (fork), so as to avoid breaking.
– We should not do many technical operations in very close proximity e.g. hair straightening or perming and dyeing in the same week but at least 15 days apart and this is because in winter melatonin, a hair growth hormone, is produced. So when we do a lot of technical work we run the risk of delaying and reducing the production of this essential hormone.
-Dry your hair thoroughly after shampooing at medium temperature and intensity of the air from the dryer.
-Outdoors when our hair is exposed to the air we make sure to have a scarf and wrap it up to protect it.
A tip every morning before you start your day, as you take care of your face with moisturizer, so you will have a spray of hair conditioner and spray it from a distance on dry hair to keep your hair moisturized all day long too!
