In this article in Hairdressing News we will look at some statistics of hairdressing salons,
such as the total turnover and the average hairdresser’s tab.

Total turnover and hairdresser’s tab

Turnover is not the same as profit, although people very often confuse the two.
These are two different variables, equally important for any business.

By turnover we mean the total income of a shop from services or retail sales including VAT.

Turnover is therefore one of the most important monitoring indicators for any business.
Both compared to previous periods and to the market average.

Total Turnover

For the first eight months of 2022, the average total turnover of about 63 salons increased 3.8% from the year 2019.
The increase in turnover is therefore extremely important.
It shows that the business is healthy and that it has a high profit potential.

On the other hand, we know that for the corresponding period of 2022 the average number of visits has decreased by -15% from 2019.

So the increase in turnover is purely due to the increase in the average tab and not to the increase in visits.

Middle tab

The average tab is obtained by dividing the total turnover by the total visits.
That is, it shows us on average how much turnover each customer makes in the store.

The average tab for the first eight months of 2022 has increased by 21.6% compared to the same period in 2019.
From €33.3 it has risen to €40.5.

This increase in the tab is due to an increase in technical work in the dyeing room, an increase in treatments in the bath
but also to the revaluations made in the price list.
