There is no place like Halkidiki…

Halkidiki and an expression that we hear constantly, not without reason.
A destination that the people of Thessaloniki love and as it has been shown over the years,
during the summer months Thessaloniki “moves” towards Halkidiki.
But wait a minute because it’s time for us to make our foray and I’ll explain exactly why,
for which this year, you must go too.

Shaped like the trident of Neptune, the promontories of Halkidiki rise up into the Aegean Sea.
Green forests reach down to the beach, where the reflections of the golden sunlight
add sparkling shades to the turquoise waters.
Large areas of beautiful and ever-changing coastline, unique archaeological sites,
world-famous Christian monuments, lesser-known natural wonders and man-made masterpieces,
contributed to the formation of the region’s diverse identity,
made even more interesting by the rich local gastronomic and cultural heritage.

Experiences that you will never forget!

If you go don’t forget to do anything:
-Biking on the paths of Alexis Zorbas
-Go (depending on the time you have) to the 61 beaches of Mount Athos.
-Bathing on the enchanting beaches of Halkidiki.

A breathtaking combination of blue and green!

In this fascinating canvas of blue and green, you will find large hotels built to the highest standards,
especially in cosmopolitan Cassandra, the westernmost peninsula.
Traditional seaside guesthouses and marinas along the coastline of Sithonia (middle peninsula)
and archaeological sites such as Ancient Olynthos and Stagira, the birthplace of Aristotle.
Last but not least.
Mount Athos: the easternmost peninsula is home to a unique Christian Orthodox monastic state,
inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
It is a millennia-old living proof of Byzantine civilization, surrounded by unspoilt nature.
Important note, Mount Athos only accepts male visitors.

Do you love the mountains?

Halkidiki hosts pockets of paradise and those who love the forested mountains,
you will undoubtedly find their own paradise here.
Follow the hiking trails or mountain bike through forests of pine, oak, fir and chestnut.
Enjoy the refreshing feeling of the fresh mountain air and quench your thirst in the cool waters of the gurgling streams
and the springs hidden in the vegetation.
For your stay there, visit the traditional guesthouses on Mount Holomontas and nearby mountain areas.

Do you love the sea?

For those looking for the perfect holiday destination overlooking the Aegean Sea, Halkidiki is an excellent choice
and if you like adrenaline, you will enjoy activities such as windsurfing, kitesurfing, diving, water skiing, etc,
in Kassandra and Sithonia.
For long-distance swimmers, the Toronaios Gulf Crossing is a swimming event that takes place every July, during which swimmers from all over the world have to cover a distance of 26 kilometres,
from Kassandra to the peninsula of Sithonia.
Board a boat and discover inlets you can’t see, dive in the Crab Pits
and near the islet of Ammouliani.
Finally, explore the campsites in the area and you won’t miss the carefree moments in the heart of nature.

Do you love the arts?

In the summer, there are major art festivals that take place in Halkidiki.
Enjoy music and outdoor theatre performances as well as other performing arts events.

Don’t miss the Sani Festival.
It has been operating since 1993 and hosts painting exhibitions, music and dance performances, some of them on Sani Hill.
The area is a green cape where the Tower of Sani dominates,
a medieval fortress that has been there since the 14th – 15th century. which is at the top of the hill.
A visit to the Sani Art Gallery, in the shopping centre by Sani marina, is just the thing to see the events planned.
The Kassandra Festival should also be high on your list.
It takes place at the Siviris Amphitheatre every summer and hosts art events, painting exhibitions, etc.
