The New Year: a milestone for a new beginning… or not?

We are all waiting for the New Year to make a new start. To set goals, to organize our lives, to start something we’ve been putting off for so long. But on the other hand, New Year’s Day is just a date. A date that we ourselves set as a milestone. And many times in the process we forget it. The magical spirit of the holidays fades away and we get back into our old routines.

So what is finally happening with the beginning of the New Year?

You want to do it all together.

You want to start dieting, exercise, learn a new language and start all of this together from January1. But then you realize that you can’t fit all that into your schedule, and your mood drops. And you end up doing nothing.

Tip: don’t load the beginning of the year with too many new beginnings.
Choose one thing you would like to do or improve. Make a plan for it, that fits harmoniously into your existing schedule.

Your goal has no time limit.

Yes, we said we want to finally clean out our warehouse with the new year, but there’s no one above us to push us. “What difference does it make if I do it now or in 1 month? I still have time!”
And that’s how we keep putting off an action and we get to the end of the year without having made any effort.

Tip: set a schedule!
Keep a diary where you plan your actions and monitor your progress.

You start something but then you lose interest.

The New Year gives us a lot of energy and appetite. We start something dynamically but if we don’t see quick results, then we give up.

The truth is that some things take time to show their first results. This happens, for example, when we learn a new skill or language, or when we exercise our body.

Tip: before you start something, do an analysis.
How much time do I need to succeed? What material and equipment do I need? When do I expect to see the first results? How will I motivate myself during this time?

Of course, New Year’s Day is a beautiful holiday full of hope and joy.

I wish you in the new year to have a lot of inspiration and good mood!

Happy birthday!

With love,
Natalia
