Proper organization of summer holidays. Are you ready?

Summer holidays… forever!!!! It’s time to plan your holiday. Have you decided where you want to go, when and most importantly with whom?

If not, let me remind you that it’s already June and that it’s a good idea to book your tickets and hotel early to get the best prices. Did you take time off work?

The anxiety of quarantine and pandemic, theoretically now that everything is open, has disappeared.
How many times while you were stuck at home, you thought about your summer holidays and you sunbathing and swimming in blue waters, sipping your drinks in seaside bars and eating your fish after a leisurely stroll through the alleys of an island?

On the other hand, there are those who have had enough of the paradise of Greece and would like to travel to another part of the world.

It’s time to take care of everything.

Read the following practical tips for proper organization!!!

First of all, how much money have you saved exclusively for your holidays?

I assume you have already set a specific budget. This amount is what will determine the duration, style and where you will take your holiday.

Along with this thought, you should, if you haven’t already done so, talk to your work about when the salon will be closed or when you can take time off.

June? July or August, to go on holiday?

It is now customary for everything to close in August and so Athens, during this period, becomes deserted and the islands become full. But if you ask people when they really prefer to go on holiday, most of the time they will tell you July, citing very logical arguments.

In July the weather is warmer and it is clearly Summer. The seas are warm, it gets dark around 9 in the evening and since there is less demand, you can have a cheaper and better quality holiday than in August. If on the other hand you are thinking of going in June, I must prepare you that the seas may be cold and the weather may not be the usual summer weather. If on the other hand you want to go in September, yes there will be warm seas and cheaper prices but psychologically, are you ready to wait until then?

If you like the crowds, you can bravely go to a busy island in the middle of August. If you prefer something quieter, choose another month.

Budget and Licence

If you have these things planned, it means you know how long your holiday will last.
The ideal way to take a holiday and rest is to go for more than 10 days. But don’t exaggerate. Because if you go for more than two weeks, you’ll probably get bored and feel like you’re wasting your time while you start to stress about the business you left behind.
In cases where you have a lot of vacation days left, a great idea is to divide your vacation into three days and thus have a vacation in June at a nearby seaside destination and in July a week on your favorite island, but also in August at a mountain, which may not be so sought after.

Sea, mountain or outside Greece?

While you were in quarantine you wanted to go everywhere. Now that that’s over, have you decided where you’re going? What would make you happy? The sea, the mountain, here in Greece, or would you rather go to Paris, Italy, Bali, Malta, Mexico or Cuba?

Think about what a holiday is for you. Sea? Calm? Noise? Fun? You got kids, dogs? Everything has its importance.

Choose Greece

According to the travel blog, travelfox, depending on what you want, there is an island in Greece that is perfect for you.

If you like green islands with lush vegetation then your choices should be on islands the Ionian Islands or the Sporades. If you like picturesque countries and blue waters then you should visit an island of the Cyclades. If you like them the Aegean islands but you are bored of the Cycladic islands and you want to see something different then we suggest the Dodecanese.

If you have many days off and don’t want to get bored, choose a big island like Crete, Rhodes, Corfu or Cyprus.

If you want peace and quiet and a walk on picturesque islands, your choices should be Astypalaea, Kimolos, Folegandros, Symi, Koufonisia, Hydra, Paxos – Antipaxi.

If you want a cosmopolitan island, choose Antiparos, Spetses or Patmos.

Tourist islands that you need to visit at least once are Santorini, Paros, Tinos, Mykonos and Skiathos.

Alternative islands for different peaceful holidays are Kalymnos, Ikaria, Karpathos and Tilos.

If your days off are short, it is best to go to an island near Athens such as Andros, Kea, Kythnos and Poros.

If you have children, go to Naxos or Kefalonia.

In cases where you don’t want to go to an island, good options are Messinia, Mani, Kourouta, Kyllini, Evia, Parga, Halkidiki, Pelion, Karpenisi, mountainous Arcadia, mountainous Nafpaktia or the beautiful Zagorochoria.
