Our eyes need special care

There are so many different ways to give that much needed love to the skin around our eyes. From hydration and sun protection to getting enough sleep, implementing these changes to your beauty routine – even if it’s just one at a time – can help you improve the skin around your eyes. The skin around the eyes is an area of our body that immediately shows signs of premature aging, especially when we do not provide proper care.

But did you ever wonder why?

  • Firstly, the skin around our eyes is thinner and more sensitive than the skin on other parts of our body. And because our eyes work a lot throughout the day, from blinking to expressing our emotions, this hyperactivity can cause premature ageing.
  • In addition, genetic factors, ultraviolet rays from the sun, stress and lifestyle choices can also alter the freshness of the skin around the eyes.

Frequent problems of the eye area:

  • dark circles
  • fine lines
  • swelling

Here are some easy eye care tips that you can incorporate into your beauty routine starting today:

  • Hydration, hydration, hydration, hydration!

Keeping your skin well hydrated is one of the most underrated steps in skin care and beauty. Imagine your skin as a grape. When it loses water, it begins to shrink and dehydrate. As it loses its precious fluids, the first wrinkles begin to appear.

The most common question about moisturizing the area around the eyes is whether you can use your facial moisturizer on the skin around them. The answer is yes. As long as it doesn’t irritate your eyes and provides a sufficient amount of moisture, you’re good!

  • Always be careful and gentle with your skin

From removing makeup to applying products to the skin around your eyes, it’s important to use gentle strokes. The skin under your eyes is very thin. Because of this, the extra stress during our daily activities can contribute to the increase in fine lines.

  • Protection from the sun is essential

Sun exposure can accelerate the skin aging process and make the skin under your eyes look darker. A broad spectrum sunscreen is really an essential part of any skin care routine and should be applied daily. Also, don’t forget your upper eyelid. This is one of the most overlooked areas in terms of sunscreen application.
