Being aware and reflective of the team’s emotions and attitudes allows you to easily improve the motivation and dynamics of the team.

  1. Comfort in team communication
    The soul and life of a place is its people, so the first thing that needs to happen is for the team to feel comfortable. It goes without saying that there must be communication and ease in every discussion, with the aim of immediate cooperation and quicker solutions. Each team member should be encouraged to be confident, concise and ready to communicate. This will not only benefit your team but also your clients, as each team member should feel confident in their ability to communicate and advise their clients. The main priority must be safety and well-being and at all times communication as a whole or individually.
  2. Invest in the well-being of the team

Investing in the well-being of your team is important and can help improve employee motivation. As hairdressers you work long hours, non-stop. A good idea that they do in salons abroad is to make time for breaks, which you can use to focus on yourself and your teamwork. For example, you can find a group activity, either exclusively for your own entertainment, or better still for the good public. You can set up groups where you can inform the public about health and beauty issues, play games, or give meaningful advice. You can also do something completely outside of hair like helping out with charities or something animal-friendly.
This is a great way to boost morale by encouraging a healthier and happier team… while also doing good.

3. Group bonding and fun

In order to ensure that your team is happy and satisfied at work, it is vital that you socialise together outside of your salon as well. Now that everything is open and the quarantine is over, plan outings either to a fun club or for a walk outdoors. This release of energy as a group is a brilliant way of truly knowing, connecting and strengthening as a group. In this way you will find that you are developing capabilities that will positively benefit your salon while you are at work.

4. Cleanliness

Clearing clutter and creating space is essential for your team to work more properly and certainly more comfortably, as it allows them to think clearly and openly. Think about it even in your own home. If it’s messy, can you function and be calm? Make sure that you and your team get rid of clutter, dirt and noise because only then can you work properly and relax during your breaks. If you are comfortable in the space, a nice idea is to talk to clients and gather their ideas about your salon or services.

5. Digital detox

For better or worse, our mobile phones can do everything, keeping us busy at all hours. We rely on them to find out the news, to be entertained and even to talk to any acquaintance or friend at any time. It is advisable to avoid using the mobile phone at all during working hours, as this may reduce the team’s attention to work and customers. It’s certainly not a pretty sight for a customer to feel that you’re not paying attention because you’re spending time on your mobile phone. In your free time, instead of talking to people on your mobile phone, make sure you talk to people in your salon.

6. Always be empathetic

What does this mean and how can empathy also help in your dresser?
It is right to understand what he feels, to understand the point of view , supporting our team members. Often people just need someone to listen to what they are really saying. Open lines of communication will help your team members to come to you with any problems, rather than keeping it inside by holding them back from working properly. Make sure your team knows that they have your full support and can access you.
