The list of “culprits” that can cause dry skin is long.

Natural DIY remedies for moisturizing dry skin at home
- Use olive oil to soothe dry skin
Olive oil is an excellent and pure oil that works as a natural cleanser and moisturizer at the same time, says Brandy Crompton, esthetician and former director of LeBliss Salon and Spa in Louisville, Kentucky. “Simply rub the oil into your skin and apply a warm, damp cloth over your face until it cools down”, says Crompton, “then wipe off the excess oil”. Olive oil is a good choice as a cleanser because it will not remove the natural oils of your skin, but will gently cleanse it.
- DIY rich and creamy mask with avocado
Creating a homemade avocado mask is another natural way to soothe dry skin. Crompton suggests using half an avocado and mixing it with 1 teaspoon of olive oil. You can also add 1 tablespoon of honey if you have very dry skin. Apply the mask to your face, leave it on for 15 to 20 minutes and then wash off. In the end, you should feel the skin soft and hydrated.
- Make a natural scrub with olive oil and sugar
Create a naturally moisturizing exfoliating formula using a combination of olive oil and sugar. Combine ½ cup of sugar with 2 tablespoons of olive oil. If you like, you can also add an essential oil such as lavender to the mixture, which adds a natural fragrance and can promote a sense of relaxation. Gently rub the scrub into your skin and then rinse it off. Finally, use a soothing moisturizer to lock in the benefits of your newly exfoliated skin.
