Fashion and Surrealism: a love affair

The Surrealism movement that emerged in the artistic circles of the post-war period of the 1920s
and is today a form of avant garde art in the field of fashion.

As the big houses prove in every collection, the desire to escape from the world is the
of the imaginary and the transcendental is a timely need in every case.
The artistic movement of surrealism, which appeared shortly after the end of the First World War around 1920,
has always been a central expression of the need for the total liberation of society.

And while one may judge as “crazy” the proposals of designers like Jeremy Scott at Moschino or Jeremy Scott at Fausto Puglisi
in Roberto Cavalli, it is this dose of madness that seems to blend most harmoniously with the grim news of the current season.
It was no surprise that at Moschino a model walked the runway in a quilt dress,
who referred us to the archival Duvet dress from Victor & Rolf’s autumn collection (2005),
while another appeared in a bustier made of a metal disc with two cups in the breast area
(with references from Schiaparelli) and a third dressed as a lampshade in pastel blue and pink.

So in a fragile and tense world, the need to see things from a new perspective is imperative.
Images with dynamics that fascinate and an absurdity that intrigues, surrealism is a way of expression
of an infinite creativity.
Artists who leave the boundaries, who cannot fit into the narrow moulds of the established image.

In an age where image is power, surreal images give a sense of something outside our world.

The path of expression that the avant garde opens before us is a path parallel to our everyday creation.
A difficult task, but it is always the difficulties that make us better.

Don’t stay within the confines of familiar situations.
Start working, inspiring, creating today.
To strive every day for something more.
If you want to change the way you express yourself, you can!
