An intense heat wave starts from today until Sunday 27/6, with the temperature rising to over 40 degrees Celsius in many areas of Greece.
According to the forecast data of the National Observatory of Athens, meteo.gr, the temperature peak is estimated to occur on Thursday 24/6 until Saturday 26/6.
Can you stand the heat?
The first solution that comes to mind is to turn on the air conditioner.
Think about it again … is there no other, cheaper solution?
But of course there is, and not just one, but many.
So you can see how much I care about you and your wallet. With the money you have left over from your utility bill, have a strawberry daiquiri for me.
Well… just as there are winter thick sheets, there are good options for summer sheets. Choose linen sheets, which keep the temperature even 3.4 degrees lower, or cotton sheets, which allow air circulation, preventing sweat from creating moisture, leaving the body cool and dry during sleep.
For even better results , put your sheets in a plastic bag and then in the freezer. Lay them out, lie down and at least until you fall asleep you will have a cool sleep.
The familiar hot water bottle, if you have imagination, can also be used with ice water. Freeze it and in cases of heatwave… just hug it!!!!
And since we have let our imagination run wild, a fantastic idea is to use the fan upside down. What do I mean? If you put the fan outside your patio door and set it to turn upside down, it will move the warm air outside.
You can use the fan in other ways. Open it and put a bowl of ice cubes in front of it. While it’s spinning, it will send a wave of coolness everywhere.
Take off your clothes, or rather put cotton clothes where needed to draw, absorb your sweat. An obvious solution is to walk around your house and sleep naked… but even this may not work as well as you might think, since sweat will stay on your body.
I know you may not like this advice. Others may still love it. On days, nights when it is hot, limit hugging, kissing and anything that wants you very close to him. It’s not a smart move to raise the room temperature.
Another way to increase the temperature of your home is to use your oven. So don’t open the oven. Prefer to make cool salads, cold dishes or order in. So much money will be left over since you won’t turn on the air conditioner.
The classic thing that helps us in times of heat is water. Drink plenty of water and bathe often with cold water. Whenever you get hot, take a cold shower.
The Egyptians, in order to cool themselves when their temperatures hit 45, cover themselves at night with a sheet which they wet with cold water, drain it so that the water doesn’t run over them and sleep with it.
