The attention of the British media and not only was drawn to Kate Middleton some time ago at the funeral of Prince Philip.

The Duchess appeared in a pearl necklace and earrings from Queen Elizabeth’s personal collection. Diana, mother of her husband William, has also worn the same jewellery.

Kate wore the same pearl necklace on the 70th anniversary of her wedding to Prince Philip in 2017.

Diana borrowed the pearl necklace from Elizabeth for a royal banquet at Hampton Court Palace in 1982.

The necklace has four rows of stones and a diamond clasp. Elizabeth had asked for it to be made from “the finest cultured pearls” and it was a gift from Japan. The Queen wore it several times at official events especially in the 80s and 90s.

With this particular choice of jewellery, Kate sought, according to the must, to honour Queen Elizabeth and her husband’s mother.

The black dress she chose to wear was just as impressive and very classy. It’s created by renowned designer Roland Mouret and costs £1,605.
