Mullet

I believe you remember this haircut from the 1980s.
If not, let me remind you: Stathis Psaltis shouting: Kula, can you hear me?
And yet! The Guardian newspaper named the mullet as the most popular hairstyle of 2021!

The hair in the mullet is shorter at the side and longer at the back, creating the so-called mane.
The mane that has been worn with great success by artists of their era, such as Paul Mc Cartney of the Beatles.
But also the leading figure of the world music industry, David Bowie.

How is the mullet connected to Greece?

The first mention of a similar style is in the Iliad! Specifically, Homer describes a group of spear-wielding men as having “their front hair cut, but having long hair behind their backs”.

But also in some statues, such as Kouros, we can distinguish the mullet from the 6th century BC!

Undoubtedly it is an attention-grabbing haircut. It combines masculine and feminine style. Of the female gender, Miley Cyrus stands out. In my opinion, she wore it very successfully in the year of quarantine, thus inviting many women to do the same.

Many Rock Stars have chosen the mullet to make an international career. Indeed, Rod Stewart, being one of the best-selling musicians of all time in the recording industry, adopted the mullet and made it a trademark in the 1980s.

But several athletes, led by top tennis player Andre Agassi, embraced the mullet and made thousands of women go wild!

Shullet

If you are still not convinced about the mullet, I can suggest the shorter mullet variant, which is the shullet: short mullet. It’s the haircut that the iconic Rolling Stones singer Mick Jagger had.

It is true that the shullet suits both straight, curly and kinky hair. The key to this haircut is that at the front the hair should caress the face and fall gently like Gigi Hadid’s.

The mullet, as a new trend is here to stay and if you want to follow it, you can discuss it with your hairdresser and get it yourself! Just remember: you have to own it and love it! That’s the only way you’ll get others to love it on you!

Sincerely, Yannos Mindilonitis
