profiteroles, éclairs, chocolate pie, baklava, banoffee, cheesecake, black forest, donuts, eclairs, chocolate soufflé, brownie, cookies, etc… Can you resist? I don’t.
It’s my “soft spot and that’s my minus and that’s my minus”, as the famous chant goes. And the problem is not eating a dessert every now and then. The problem is that sugar becomes an addiction and if you eat it today, you want it tomorrow…. and eventually you end up ordering three paste from the start, so that you don’t have to have the delivery man bring you a paste every day! The “drug” is in us and because the addiction is there, I have found specific foods that reduce our appetite for sugar. I swear publicly, with you as witnesses, that from this coming Monday, not past Monday, I say no to sugar. Read how much you will gain if you give up sugar and I expect you to be allies in this fight!!!!
Our need for sugar is reduced according to research,
coconut oil, which although it is rich in saturated fat and therefore it is good to limit the amount we consume, can help us to stop craving sweets.
Liquorice tea, like all sweet-tasting teas, can trick us into thinking we are consuming something sweet.
The sweet potato, as its name suggests, can satisfy our sweet tooth. In fact, if we put our imagination to work, we can make it in many ways and different recipes.
Carrots are one of the foods that help you to reduce your sugar intake. You can cut the carrot into sticks and keep them with you for snacking whenever you’re craving something sweet. For more complete enjoyment, you can combine it with hummus.
Kombucha drink, not many people know it, but it is ideal for detoxifying the body, boosting the immune system, balancing liver function, but also for what we are looking for, limiting sugar in our daily lives.
Nut butter, almond, nut, cashew, cashew, peanut or hazelnut butter, whatever unsweetened nut butter you prefer, the result is satisfying your cravings without resorting to sweets.
And finally my favorite dark or stevia chocolate . Dark chocolate, although low in sugar , has many health benefits. Besides, its rich taste does not allow you to eat a large quantity. Among other things you can also put in your diet peaches bananas, strawberries, plums… they have little sugar and calories but they are not chocolaty!!!!
Sugar vs. health
I can’t believe that such a great love of mine would do so much harm.
However, according to research, avoiding sugar can bring about huge health changes that will improve the quality of our lives.
1.If you give up sugar, you will feel fuller.
2.You will protect your heart
3. Fat especially belly fat will shrink
4.You will protect your liver (a study in the journal Nature claims that too much sugar has a negative effect on the liver almost like alcohol).
5.Prevent kidney stones.
6.You will protect your brain ( blood sugar in the blood can be one of the causes of brain damage that affects memory. It is clear that uncontrolled blood sugar levels are found to be responsible for this damage, but not the sugar itself).
7. You will keep your skin youthful without damaging its collagen.
