The world is blue and white today. Happy Birthday Greece!

Tragic irony to celebrate the Greek Revolution and our freedom, confined to our home. If we could, especially today, I would like to take a walk around the world, which, in honour of Greece and the 200th anniversary of the Greek Revolution, have illuminated public and iconic buildings with the Greek flag and the blue and white colours. From Sydney, to California, to California, to Canada, to Munich, to Munich, to Jerusalem, to Paris, to Brussels and back here… to Greece, to our Athens.
Have a nice trip… proud to be Greek!!!!

March 25, 1821, the day of the Annunciation, was designated as the day of the beginning of the Greek Revolution, against the Turkish yoke, by the leader of the Society of Friends Alexander Ypsilanti, “as advocating the political redemption of the Greek nation“This date was considered a reference point from the very first days of the Revolution and is an official holiday in Greece and Cyprus.
Usually the celebrations include parades and other festivities on the same day or the day before.

Under other circumstances now, we would proudly get ready to go to the parade and then go for a walk with friends. For freedom, our heroes, Kolokotronis, Papaflessas, Karaiskakis, Botsaris, Kanaris, Androutsos, Miaoulis Bouboulina and many others gave everything in 1821. Tragic irony to celebrate the day this year, confined to home, because if we go out, we or anyone else, might get sick with covid19.

FREEDOM OR DEATH? Then in 1821 we were fighting against the Ottoman Empire. Today our main enemy, an unknown dangerous virus.

We will succeed if we are disciplined and most importantly if we strengthen our body so that we have antibodies against it!

They honour Greece
Public and iconic buildings around the world have been illuminated in blue and white.

In Jerusalem, the Holy Monastery of the Holy Cross, the oldest monastery of the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem, was illuminated. In Munich, the Propylaea, inspired by the Parthenon’s Propylaea. In Sydney, the iconic Opera House. In Canada, Niagara Falls; in Brussels, the City Hall in the Grand Place; and in Paris, Paris. on the banks of the Seine. In Tel Aviv, the historic “Yad Eliau”, the home of basketball club Maccabi Tel Aviv and in Boston the historic home of the Boston Celtics.

Below are photos and videos.
