Razor: To do or not to do?

Razor in my hair?
Don’t you dare use!
It’s something we’ve heard our clients tell us at the time of the haircut.

But let’s see together what are the benefits of razor clipping?

How can she transform and highlight the most trendy haircuts?

Let’s demystify the negatives you’ve heard about razor clipping in my article today.

History of the razor

The razor existed before the copper age
(archaeologists have dated the oldest razor-like object from 18,000 BC).
But also in caves they have found, in prehistoric times, shells of clams, shark teeth and flint,
which had been sharpened and used for a razor.
In addition, excavations in tombs in ancient Egypt have unearthed razors made of solid copper and gold!

The razor in the hairdresser’s

First of all, we need to clarify something: The razor itself is a simple tool in your hairdresser’s toolbox.
If the hairdresser does not know how to cut with it then the responsibility is entirely his/her own.
Cutting hair with a razor is very different from cutting hair with scissors.
The hairdresser who wants to cut with a razor has the obligation to be trained in it and to count many hours of practice
before using it on a client.
But let’s see what we can achieve with this particular – my favourite – tool.

On which hair can we use a razor?

First of all it is worth noting that we always cut the hair wet.
And we constantly spray the hair during the haircut so that there is always moisture.
In this way we ensure that the edges do not become rough.
Personally, I also soak the hair with liquid keratin so that I am sure that no split ends will be created.

I prefer to cut thick and long hair with a razor.
I manage to thin the ends of the haircut and not add unnecessary volume and weight to the head.
However, I also use it on thinner hair.
Very carefully, to emphasize lovely noses that will frame the face.
The way to place it in the hair is always diagonal (at an angle of about 45 degrees) to get a sweet fade.
We can create amazing rock n’ roll haircuts and textures that scissors can’t give us.
Always provided that we show the necessary respect for geometry and prosopometry.
We will create haircuts that will catch the eye with their movement and lightness of structure!

What hair do we not use it on?

If the hair is limp, brittle and very damaged by technical work and heat tools,
then I say no to using a razor on this hair.
If they have a lot of frizz by nature, then again I avoid using it because it will make the effect worse.
However, I can use it on curly hair (unlike opinions that don’t approve of it).
The razor can work wonders on curly hair since it will highlight it and lighten the head from the unnecessary volume.

What do we need to watch out for?

The razor blade should be new so that it can easily slide through the hair.
After all, when the sharp cutting edge is new we ensure that we do not create friction by injuring the peritoneum.
The hair will have movement, style and will be easy to comb.
Look for the hair expert who will create the haircut of your dreams!

Trust your hairdresser because he or she loves your hair as much as you do and go for it,

Friendly,
Yannos Mindilonitis.
