The new daily routine for the unvaccinated announced yesterday 02 November 2021 by the Minister of Health Thanos Plevris, aiming to stop the pandemic will bring significant changes in hairdressing salons and barbershops.
In addition to the two rapid tests per week required for vaccinees to enter the workplace, they will have to show their rapid or PCR test certificate everywhere except in pharmacies, supermarkets and churches.
The new measures for the unvaccinated should also exclude barbershops and hairdressing salons, as they bring dysfunction to our businesses, threaten our livelihoods and, in essence, public health is not protected, since in practice the measures to limit the spread of the coronavirus are not strictly observed in any case.
The Government, with the measures announced, is once again leading to an increase in the phenomenon of home visits or visits to other private places, thus creating conditions of unfair competition.
The Hellenic Federation of Shopkeepers of Hairdressers of Greece (K.O.K.K.K.K.E.) and our members have demonstrated full compliance with all health protocols and absolute responsibility in order to limit the further spread of the coronavirus.
We therefore believe that hairdressing salons and barber shops should be exempted from the new measures as it is imperative that hairdressing/barber shop operations take place only in professional hairdressing/barber shop premises, as only these premises are of health interest and ensure that our fellow citizens are more protected from professional specialists working in premises subject to health controls.
Urgent is the need to realize that without supportive measures will not endure the industry of hairdressing and barber shops and all businesses so we request the implementation of an organized framework of support with measures such as the reduced VAT rate, with legislative intervention in the issue of rents of our businesses, with strengthening the liquidity of businesses in the sector with new programs non-refundable advance.
