Is hair sunscreen a good way to prevent hair damage?

The good news is that you can take precautions to protect your hair from the hot summer sun.
You can therefore use a product with SPF (sun protection factor)
that protects the hair from harmful rays.

But how does it work?

Hair sunscreen works by forming a protective barrier on the surface of our hair,
which helps protect them from the harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays of the sun.
The active ingredients in hair sunscreens usually include UV filters such as avobenzone,
octinoxate and zinc oxide, which work by either absorbing or reflecting ultraviolet radiation.
However, it is good to note that hair sunscreen works differently from skin sunscreen.
This is because our hair is technically made from dead skin cells
and do not react in the same way to sun damage as our skin.
That is, visible redness, burning pain, peeling, peeling, etc. It requires a different kind of approach.
Instead, hair sunscreen focuses on protecting the cuticle, the outer area of the hair.

Can I use sunscreen on my scalp?

A sunburned scalp seems unusual, but the top of our scalp is
one of the most susceptible areas for sunburn in our body.
Also, it may be the last area we think of during the day to apply hair sunscreen.
Therefore, it is good to protect it.
As, the scalp is part of our skin, it is wise to apply a product with SPF, such as those of the skin,
ideally in the form of a spray or lotion, in order to protect it from UV rays and prevent cell damage.

How do we apply the hair sunscreen?

Hair sunscreen is marketed, usually in the form of a spray that we can apply
after styling products or brushing our hair.
Application and use is easy and similar to the way spray styling products such as hairspray are applied.

Steps for applying hair sunscreen before sun exposure.

  1. We have clean and dry hands
  2. Good shaking of the product before use
  3. Hold the bottle (product) about 6 cm away from your hair and spray evenly.
  4. We base the top (partition)
  5. Use your fingers or a comb to distribute the sunscreen properly
  6. Allow the sunscreen to dry completely on your hair before going out

So, these are the secrets around hair sunscreen and we hope you find them useful from now on.
Happy summer and happy holidays from us.

Many kisses,
Joanna and Sissy
