Blackheads: French VS Dutch

Today we have a showdown: French pigtail versus Dutch pigtail. Which is the best? Let’s see together the similarities and differences of the most trendy hairstyle of the summer?

French braid ( French braid)

It may be called French but the first images of women with such braids come from North Africa! Specifically, in Tassili n’Ajjer, Algeria, the frescoes that have existed for 6,000 years show women with braids on their heads! Then, we see three-strand braids in ancient Greece and in Celtic culture. What is certain is that they took their name from France because of the prestige the country had due to the high standard of living and the connection with the fashion world. But the paradox is that in the hairdressing salons in France they refer to it as La traisse Africaine – African braid!!

How do we make a French braid?

We can say that this particular knitting has a low degree of difficulty. Start from the front of the head and take three small sections of hair. Then add hair from one end and bring it to the centre. Alternately we will continue in the same way until we reach the back of the head. Secure the hair with an elastic band at the end of the braid. The important thing is to cross the sections you add over the central one. In the end all the hair of the head will be tied together and we will be able to admire a beautiful head!

Dutch braid (Dutch braid)

The Dutch braid is similar to the French one but differs in the way it is made: the moment you cross the side part of the hair you put it under the central part. Similarly, continue knitting by placing the edge strand under the central strand. So we will get a 3D result! Dutch will also be heard as reverse French or reverse French. It stands out from the scalp, it’s more distinct than the French one and I personally like it more!

One thing is for sure, whether French or Dutch, the braid is the most timelessly beloved hairstyle of women of all time. They add style and the hair looks intricately braided without requiring any special skill! For a carefree look on the beach or adapted to a bridal hairstyle, the French braid will make you look great!

Keep braiding your hair because you know that we men like to see you with braids too!

With a lot of love,
