Babyligths! Undoubtedly, the color technique that will give your hair shine!
Find out what it is, how you can create it and what it adds to your look!
What is it?
Babylights are very delicate hair tufts that simulate the opening that the sun gives.
I would say that they are like threads of light that have the ultimate purpose of shining.
Therefore, it’s a subtle touch that will give your hair movement.
Indeed, it is ideal for natural hair since it gives them more interest.
But also in colored hair, babylights give brightness and enhance the color!
How do we create it?
First of all, one way to babylights is to have your hairdresser work on combed hair and open up little tufts of hair.
on the outer perimeter of the hair, where the sun can see it.
Something like painting, in much thinner sections and not close to the roots.
In this case we do the technique in the open air and do not close the hair in foil or thermal sheets.
However, the way I love most is different:
I choose tufts using the embroidery technique and then hang the hair, so that there will be spindly tufts left over for rinsing.
I close them in foils and the result is fibres that give shine and light to the hair!
Try it and you will love it!
How often do we do babylights?
Precisely because babylights are very subtle and discreet, we don’t need to repeat it very often.
It does not create a bar on the hair as it lengthens and is imperceptible.
They are ideal for fine hair without being prohibitive for thicker hair.
In fact, you can do babylights on all hair lengths and most haircuts!
Maintenance
The maintenance of babylights is no different from that for hair with highlights:
Wash with shampoo for colored hair and conditioner for nourishment.
In other words, don’t forget that this is discolored hair that needs hydration and care!
You can even use a silver shampoo and no yellow conditioner to avoid unwanted yellowing.
I personally recommend a visit to the salon once a month for a toner to freshen up the shade of babylights.
I hope I’ve helped you and encouraged you to try this adorable color technique too!
With love,
Yannos Mindilonitis.
