“Mom, I want to grow up!
I think I’m going to make it a goal for this year.
What do you think?
Well, Mom… I’ve made up my mind! I’m starting right now!
Do you know a life coach??”
-Giorgos, 45 years old
Everything is possible…?
“Thank you, George, for coming to me for your goal.
Tell me a little bit more about what you want to achieve…
… how feasible is it?“
And yet… not everything is possible at any given time.
In our lives there are various limitations, or rather, facts and circumstances.
When George is still 10 years old, yes, he can grow up.
But from a certain age onwards, when the body stops its biological development, no matter how much we “want” to say, we will not grow any taller.
And so, when you set a goal, professional or personal, think… is that goal achievable at the moment?
Is there room for change and improvement?
I can get taller, but the ceiling is low…
Metaphorically speaking, sometimes the environment in which we find ourselves cannot give us more than what it has already given us. For example, you cannot get promoted in the company where there is no higher post to take up.
So some questions you can ask yourself here are:
- What conditions must be in place for me to achieve what I want?
- What do I need to change in my environment?
- What can I achieve where I am now without changing anything in the environment?
Consider also that if you try to grow taller where you don’t fit, you may even “injure” yourself and hurt yourself.
(your body, your psychology, etc.)
If you’ve reached the ceiling, it means there’s an upstairs
Yes! There are other things beyond what we are experiencing today.
There are the upper floors, there are adjacent buildings, there are stairs, doors, windows, seas, land, air and the list goes on! Just as our choices are never ending, as long as there is a “want”.
And who knows… maybe George will grow taller!
With a lot of love,
Natalia
