Covid Vaccine – 200% increase in appointments
There has been a sharp increase in covid vaccine appointments in the last week.
185% increase in appointments for the first dose and 200% increase for the third dose of vaccine.
Indicatively, in the last week alone, 175,000 citizens made an appointment for the first instalment.
According to data presented by Mr. Marios Themistocleous, more than 6.430.000 citizens have completed their vaccination.
That is 61.2% of the general population and 70.2% of the adult population.
Vaccine 3rd dose
With the third dose, 460,000 citizens have been vaccinated so far.
Mr. Themistocleous stressed that the third dose of Moderna vaccine will start on November 12. He pointed out that the booster dose, according to the EMA’s instructions, is half the normal dose.
The booster vaccine can be given to all people over 18 years of age. The basic condition is that they must have completed six months since the second instalment. Those who have received Johnson & Johnson the booster can be done two months after and for immunosuppressed people one month after.

Mrs Theodoridou Maria, in her statements, pointed out the following:
Those who have completed 6 months of full vaccination are not considered unvaccinated.
In particular, he explained that the booster vaccine strengthens existing immunity.
However, there is a delay for the third tranche.
Several people think they have antibodies and he stressed that antibody tests are often misleading.
Mrs Theodoridou placed particular emphasis on the vaccination of all pregnant women. He explained that throughout the delivery and 42 days afterwards, people are at risk of COVID-19 as much as people with underlying diseases.
