In a previous Hair Talk Vlog we looked back on the fashion and trends that prevailed in the 1930s.
Today we will continue our journey through time, stepping into the next decade.
The 1940s was a milestone in the history of humanity and naturally influenced fashion.
The contradictions…
By the middle of the decade World War II is underway and people are living very difficult situations.
Despite the adverse conditions on the other side of the Atlantic, Hollywood and the then Star System was sending its own messages. The glamour of the film stars could not leave the women of the time unaffected.
Once again in history, women had to take power into their own hands.
They replaced men at work but remained women!
France lost a lot of ground in the creation of Haute Couture fashion because of the war. Then, women turned their eyes to Hollywood. They may not have been able to go out for social appearances in nice clothes but that didn’t stop them from creating a trend.
The 1940s was described as a black era for humanity, but women put colour in their appearance. It is the decade when the first permanent dyes were created!
Clothes took a back seat and a strong wind of change in the hair turned things upside down.
Light golden hair colours, bright reds and warm acacia were the dominant colours of the time.
When it comes to hairstyling, light curls and loose chignons are the elements that were created back then and still reach today.
