Wondering how to get smooth and clear skin? These are your “weapons” against acne. Years ago, teenage girls with acne were told to stop eating crisps and apply some cream to the problem areas of their skin. However, we now know much more about the reasons why many women develop acne. Dermatologists are also able to provide the most effective solutions to treat it.

Not all cases are the same, and there is no one cure for acne. Although this inflammation of the skin has its roots in a common cause – hormonal fluctuations stimulating the sebaceous glands – there are wide variations in both the severity of symptoms and the response to treatments.

Add these three steps to your daily skincare routine and learn how to treat acne:

  • Soothing creams

Common substances that fight skin imperfections, such as salicylic acid and benzoic peroxide, are now mixed with other soothing ingredients that reduce inflammation.

“These are mainly botanical extracts, which have significant anti-inflammatory properties and do not affect the normal function of the skin, regardless of skin type,” says New York dermatologist Robyn Gmyrek, recommending in searches for anti-acne products containing aloe, ginseng, ginkgo biloba, chamomile, turmeric, licorice and grape seed oil.

  • Use probiotics

“Probiotics help the bacterial balance of the body in general, and of the skin in particular,” says plastic surgeon Dendy Engelman and advises: “Yogurt or kefir are your most common dietary choices, and an extra dose of a special probiotic supplement can only do you good.”

  • Fill your body with the right vitamins

“If you notice that acne increases on menstrual days, try a vitamin B6 supplement, which balances the hormonal imbalance,” suggests expert Carl Thornfeldt. Mint tea -2 cups every day- helps fight period acne, according to a study by the American Academy of Dermatology.
