Mistakes we make in the salon. How can we fix them?

No doubt we are doing a multi-faceted profession with many components.
What are the main mistakes we can make in the salon that don’t produce the results we dreamed of?
Let’s see how we can avoid them and cope with the battlefield!

In principle, education…

I have mentioned this in a previous article and I repeat it today.
One of the biggest mistakes in hairdressing is the lack of training.
It is what will stop us from our next step.
Instead, it is continuous training that will keep us fit and not let us slack off and belly up.
Both in haircutting, colour techniques and even in the resale of products, education is the alpha and omega.

The hairdressing salon

The wrong appearance of the salon space can be a deterrent to not repeating a visit. Undoubtedly, this has nothing to do with just an old-looking salon,
but also with the cleanliness of our workplace.
That’s why we make sure that our salon is always in order so that the client feels safe in a beautiful environment.

Diversification and innovation

Indeed, the lack of differentiation and innovation in the salon is crucial to the future of our business.
Unfortunately, many salons tend to look like a super market.
One looks like the other and the customer can’t find anything to catch his attention.
It’s a mistake for the salon not to have a personality.
Dare to diversify and I’m sure you won’t regret it!

Ignorance of market preferences

Many salon owners are unaware of the buying preferences of their clientele.
Instead, they remain stuck in the past and do not look where the current of evolution and fashion is going.
When a business does not evolve, there is not stagnation but retreat, because competition is moving forward.
It’s one of the biggest mistakes a salon makes and not listening to the pulse of the market.

Hairdresser = Business

Many salon owners operate as artists and not as entrepreneurs.
We must not forget that the salon is a business that needs disciplines such as management and marketing.
It needs targeting and partners with an appetite to “run” the entrepreneur’s vision.
This will help to broaden the horizons and the salon will become competitive.

Excellent knowledge of the products

Inside the salon we have hundreds of product codes.
But how much of this do we and our partners know very well?
Can we distinguish exactly which products we should use to get the best results?
And more importantly, are the products we recommend for resale really what the client’s hair needs? Education is also of major importance here, as it can give us a competitive advantage.

I hope I have helped my hairdresser friends to think about what they can do wrong in the salon
and change it for the better.

With love and appreciation,
Yannos Mindilonitis.
