Which type of mushrooms is the best choice in slimming

All types of edible mushrooms on the market are dietary and rich in protein. However, one particular fungus may play an important role in understanding why your body stores sugar and fats in a certain way and may prove helpful in your efforts to lose weight.

Preliminary research from the University of Buffalo has shown that portobello mushrooms in particular are effective in helping women lose weight by regulating their blood sugar levels. Researchers suggested that eating mushrooms may be helpful in stabilising blood glucose levels. This in itself is beneficial for weight loss.

Mushrooms contain phytonutrients, as well as the antioxidant ergothioneine, an amino acid found in plants. The combination of these two protects against tissue injury and balances blood sugar in less than 30 minutes.

Given the sugar-laden diet most of us follow today, our bodies have difficulty processing the large amount of sugar we consume, turning it into fat, resulting in chronic conditions such as diabetes and obesity.

Portobello mushrooms are fat-free and low in calories, so they are generally an excellent addition to your diet. They also contain nutrients such as selenium, copper, vitamin D, fibre and protein.

Of course, all types of edible mushrooms on the market are dietary and rich in protein, but this does not mean that they can necessarily replace the protein in animal products.
