A hard lockdown, like last March, is currently being discussed at an emergency meeting at the Maximos Mansion, with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Health Minister Vassilis Kikilias and Deputy Minister of Civil Protection and Crisis Management Nikos Chardalias, Professor Sotiris Tsiodras and the President of EODY Panagiotis Arkoumaneas, to evaluate with all the data the bad epidemiological situation, which is shown in clear numbers today!

Early this morning, Health Minister Vassilis Kikilias, commenting that the occupancy rate of beds in intensive care units in Attica has now reached 71%, proposed a short but total lockdown in Attica as the only solution.

“According to the ambulance on 6/2 we had 231 intubations, on 7/2, 245 and on 8/2, 260. That is, 15 a day more, 10 of them in Attica, which means that one ICU unit is occupied in one day, “said the Minister, adding that “We now have a total of 1,899 inpatients with Covid-19, while last week we had 1,594. We are fighting against time until we have vaccinated 70% of the population. Also of concern seems to be infections in young children, as “in the period 24/1-30/1 there was an 11% increase in cases in the 0-9 age group.
