As of this Monday, April 19, it becomes compulsory, as stated by the Minister of Labour, Mr. Kostis Hatzidakis, the use of covid self test, for employees specifically in the following private sector sectors.

If you work in retail, supermarkets, food shops, catering, land, sea and air transport, hairdressing, barber shops, beauty salons, beauty centres and gambling companies…. is mandatory and must be carried out once a week self test, so that you can work with physical presence.

The supply of self tests, as we have written in a previous article, is free of charge from the pharmacy, using your Social Security number. Of course the employee has the right to have a rapid test or molecular test if he wishes to do so at his own expense or that of his company.

If you are negative, you simply declare your result in self-testing.gov.gr and from there it is automatically transferred to the supportemployees.services.gov.gr platform and then all your details are transferred to the ERGANI system. To go to work you will need to have a certificate that your results are negative.

If you are positive, you will have to be retested, either in a free public facility or in a private facility of your choice. As you understand, until the result of the second test is available, you are quarantined at home. And if you are indeed positive, a certificate is issued and you are quarantined according to the protocol of the EODY.

According to the Minister of Labour, there will be checks and in cases where a self-test has not been carried out there will be hefty fines, starting from 300 euros. If a worker is found not to have declared a result, a fine of €500 per worker is imposed on the employer. If an employer is found with a worker who is positive, a fine of €1,500 per worker is imposed.
