Tricho, a global debate
During the pandemic, as consumer interest clearly shifted from styling to fashion, the
to hair care as an act of self-care, online discussions about hair issues have exploded.
The analysis of the online chats therefore showed that reports of scalp problems increased by +76%,
characterized by the appearance of search terms such as “quarantined hair”, “itchy scalp” and “greasy”.
These figures were confirmed by consumer research, which showed that between 2017 and 2020, globally,
incidents of scalp discomfort increased by 36% while problems due to oily scalp increased by 15%.
Taking care of the scalp is an act of self-care
While in the West, scalp treatments are not yet an established practice, in Asia they are already an established service in salons. In Japan, a pioneering country in hair care, these high-tech services in the salon include a “spa”

As part of the development of the Scalp Advanced range, L’Oréal Professionnel asked the following question:
“What if more hairdressers had the products, tools & skills that would give them the confidence & self-assurance
to take care of their clients’ hair?”.
So we want hairdressers to be trusted when it comes to hair care.
We collaborated with hairdressers and dermatologists to develop a complete range of products for all skin types.

In order to meet this need, we asked renowned hairdressers with expertise in the scalp to collaborate
with L’Oréal ‘s laboratories on the development of the Scalp Advanced range and the educational platform.

Usage.
Flexible texture – neither too wet nor too solid to be used either as a shampoo to remove residues,

Trainees will also have the opportunity to attend webinars
with a trainer in their country.
This innovative platform is based on a series of short, easy-to-digest videos that deal with
basic information on scalp care.
Scalp Keys will help beginner hairdressers to upgrade their scalp care skills,
focuses on the innovation of the Scalp Advanced range, and will help build a professional community
for the care of the scalp.
Trainees will learn everything from hair science and useful terminology to how to diagnose hair.
