Happiness hormones?

And yet they do exist and they are the ones we all need most.

One part that depends on how happy you are is what you yourself choose to do day by day.
Certain chemicals produced by our body create a real mood factor.
One explanation for this is due to these little things called neurotransmitters.

What are happiness hormones and neurotransmitters?

Neurotransmitters are chemicals in the brain, some of which act as hormones.
These send signals between neurons, brain cells and the nervous system.

Serotonin, dopamine, endorphin and oxytocin are the most important neurotransmitters when it comes to mood disorders.

What are Endorphins.

Exercise encourages the production of endorphins. They probably play multiple roles in exercise, one of which is to help us better cope with the pain and discomfort that intense exercise can cause.

Music also helps a lot, as well as the simple gesture of holding someone’s hand, eating dark chocolate, even a hug or a compliment.

What is Dopamine.

Some of the body functions that dopamine plays a role in are movement, thoughts and emotions, sexual stimulation, enjoying food, taking care of yourself.

Feeling good about something we do and feeling rewarded makes us want to repeat this process to produce more dopamine.

What is Serotonin.

It is the hormone of human balance. Increase serotonin levels by meditating, running, walking in nature, going out in the sun, swimming or cycling.

What is Oxytocin.

It is the hormone of love. It is released when people come close, even with our pets, by giving a hug or hearing a compliment.

Three ways to boost your happiness hormones.

  • Follow a gut-friendly diet.
    Eat fibre-rich foods, increase prebiotics and include plenty of fruit and vegetables in your diet.
  • Listen to your favourite music.
  • Exercise as often as you can.

Happiness is always an internal affair!!!!
