Without a doubt, the Gucci Aria collection has been one of the biggest fashion highlights of the year since it was unveiled last April. Alessandro Michele, artistic director of Gucci, personally chose to invite Måneskin as guests. The Italian band that won this year’s Eurovision when they “rocked” all of Europe with the rock song “Zitti E Buoni”. It is currently at the top of the world charts. At the same time he invited American Kristen McMenamy, the top model with the androgynous, unconventional look.

Måneskin and McMenamy read works or essays on desire, such as Jean Baudrillard’s Simulacra and Simulation, Walter Benjamin’s The Work of Art in the Age of its Technical Reproducibility, Judith Butler’s Bodies that Matter.

Their image perfectly matched the aesthetic that the house’s artistic director Alessandro Michele has built in recent years. In the past he has made Harry Styles, Dakota Johnson and Jared Lito, among others, his muses.

The collection

Gucci’s artistic director Alessandro Michele adopted Balenciaga’s style. He borrowed key elements and iconic pieces from past collections and married them with Gucci’s stylistic signature.

Love is the main source of inspiration behind the campaign’s contemporary images. The renowned photographer duo Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott took it upon themselves to bring Michele’s vision to life. Under his artistic supervision, of course. The mystery and seductive atmosphere could not be better captured than in the rooms of a hotel. In this case it is The Savoy and the choice was not a coincidence. The house wants to honour the historic London hotel where its founder, Guccio Gucci, worked as a courier in his youth.

Already, Gucci creations from the Aria collection have made an appearance on the red carpet and the real heart-shaped clutch has been singled out as the ultimate it bag.
