The royal family, apart from the protocol for behaviour, manners, events and so on, adheres to a strict protocol for beauty. One of the beauty rules that blue bloods have to obey is their manicure.

According to the protocol, the nails of the blue bloods should be short and neat, while it is forbidden to be painted in bright colors. The truth is that Queen Elizabeth and the Duchess of Cambridge have unpainted nails or choose to have them painted with a nude polish.

In 1989, according to Essie, the queen’s beautician contacted the company and asked them to send them the polish in a soft pink shade that flatters every skin tone. Since then, this particular nude nail polish has been the Queen’s No.1 choice.

It is worth noting that the only one who has broken the protocol regarding manicure is Meghan Markle, who has been photographed several times with black nails, thus challenging the rules of the palace.

However, the camera has rarely spotted the queen with bare hands, as she almost always wears gloves -again, the reason is protocol.

Finally, against protocol it seems that our beloved Princess Diana had gone against protocol, who thought that all this was absurd and stopped wearing gloves in her public appearances and made normal handshakes with the people who greeted her.
