I greet you again, my colleague and fellow hairdresser!

Today the day is dedicated to the XERO XERO awkward and forgettable moment of photography after each of your results.

You started the excuses, haven’t I started yet?
-I can’t
-I don’t have time
-I have no light
-I don’t have a good mobile phone
-I keep forgetting
-The customers do not want
-Rush
-I don’t know how to make nice phonographies
and much more?

Got you, huh?
Was I in your head?
I know!
How do I know?
Since the eye of the BIG BROTHER knows everything…

We have and we say…

You’ve taken on a wonderfully difficult e.g. change – correction – transformation – coupon change – makeup – bridal makeup – bridal grooming – nail set – and more.
You have devoted X amount of time and X amount of effort.
You are proud of the result, you see it and say
“phew, you little boogeyman.”
“well done again”,
“but, what a player I am, I’m a dishonest man.”
“how I got cut up like that again”
and all those humble things that only …the humble artists… know!
And the client leaves.
And there’s a CLAPS-LYGM!
You still didn’t take a picture or if you did:
-you don’t like it,
-buzz
-it’s blurry and all that….

So what happened to this wonderful work?
He sprouted wings and flew away.

And your chance to show who you are and what you do in these modern technological times we live in is gone.
What are you gonna post on social now, you say?
How will you promote your work?

Come on… come on.
Don’t cry…
Take a deep breath , wave a white handkerchief at all the jobs you’ve left unfinished and move on to the next ones.

What do you need?
-A nice spot
-A good mobile phone or camera
-A source of light
Thats it!
Α! I forgot…
-And good mood! Basic!

What could you buy as a start?

So let’s see !
1) A ring light (with CRI >95 and you will tell me now what CRI is…ok ! in short the ability of a light source to show us more realistic, more natural colours)
2) Photo projectors
3) Softbox

-If you have space, create a small photographic corner with a white wall and combine all three light sources, always testing with your phone or camera to get the best results.
-Don’tput people in front of intense “noise” i.e. with many bright colors or objects as a background because your camera will not be able to focus on the subject.
-When you take a portrait, remember that the camera, especially the mobile phone’s camera, focuses on the face and is likely to alter or darken the hair shade.

What can you take pictures with?

But with a mobile phone or even the camera.
The positive thing about the mobile is that you always have it with you, it is easy to use, you can directly edit e.g. collage or your logo and upload it to social, while with the camera you either have to have bluetooth to send it to your mobile or you have to pass it to your computer.
Choose what works for you and finish it!

It does not want effort , it wants way said and an advertisement and of course you always have to :
  • Don’t forget to take pictures! DON’T FORGET! DON’T FORGET! DON’T FORGET! I’ll be a nightmare.
  • Don’t let your work go without having kept at least one good picture of it.
  • Don’t let the client/woman go until you have taken at least 20 photos in many different poses. If you don’t know how, take a look at your colleagues on instagram and get ideas for great hair styling!
  • Try out many parts of your space to find the right lighting.
  • You give instructions for the appropriate pose. NOT everyone has it in knowing how to be photographed. Don’t make them feel bad, just tell them exactly what you want them to do.
  • Customers really like this process. Don’t get stuck photographing them. This way you will also become familiar with this process. None of us was born a photographer. But it’s another art and another skill that the more you learn it, the more good it does your work.
  • If they don’t want their face to be shown (very reasonable in some cases) try all the other poses (profile, semi-profile, back….etc etc).
  • Take 10 minutes of your time to do it right! Don’t make your dates sticky, keep a distance for a breath, an extra photo, an extra chat.
  • Don’t be in a hurry, it will NOT work.
  • Buy a good cell phone (Don’t spend all your money on everything else … and feel sorry for a good tool for your work!!! Yes, it’s pinching the bastards, but with good planning 3-4 months from now put it in your plan).
  • Every beginning and difficult…Don’t fish!
  • Of course it’s not easy, but who made it the first time???
  • Give value to your work with a good CLICK. You can’t imagine how much satisfaction you’ll feel after looking at the photos (artistic orgasms are never ending…)
