The root of the problem
Kérastase decodes dandruff, a biological phenomenon that starts at the cellular level within the scalp

After more than 30 years of research, Kérastase has discovered that the cause of dandruff is actually the acceleration of
of cell renewal in the scalp.
This deregulation is triggered by endogenous and exogenous factors, and affects the health of the scalp and hair

As with any part of the body, the scalp skin is constantly renewed by shedding dead cells
and developing new ones.
Every 14 days, new cells rise from the deeper layers to the surface of the scalp,
pushing the old cells out.
Under normal circumstances, these cells are easily detached during shampooing, and so are not visible in the hair.
Stress, fatigue, hormonal changes and external aggressive factors can lead to hyperplasia
of the micro-organism malassezia restricta at the expense of other, beneficial micro-organisms.
The scalp loses its balance.
The epidermal barrier is weakened and can no longer perform its protective role against external aggressors, causing sebum oxidation and dehydration and, consequently, inflammation and discomfort.
Faced with this threat, the scalp accelerates the rate of cell renewal in an attempt to
