With an eye on the end of the Covid-19 pandemic, events such as the biggest fashion night of the year, the Met Gala held in New York, were announced, but 2020 was postponed.

At the Met Gala charity event, representatives of fashion and the arts come together to celebrate the spring exhibition of the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art (MET) and support its causes.

Andrew Bolton, curator of the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art (MET) in New York, has announced not one but two interconnected exhibitions on American fashion.

The first part “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion” will take place in September after New York Fashion Week and will focus on contemporary American designers.

The second part, America: An Anthology of Fashion, is planned for May 2022, the month in which the Met Gala is traditionally held, and will be a celebration of 300 years of American fashion history.

Both exhibitions will run until 5 September 2022.

“We consciously wanted it to be a celebration of the American fashion community, which was so affected during the pandemic,” said Andrew Bolton.

“I think American fashion is undergoing a renaissance, with young American designers at the forefront of discussions about diversity, inclusion, sustainability and conscious creativity. I find it incredibly exciting,” he said.
