After NYFW, which closed with Tom Ford’s spectacular runway, the heart of fashion is beating in London. From 17 to 21 September, the British capital will welcome Fashion Week, unveiling the new collections for Spring-Summer 2022. London Fashion Week started today. It will combine live catwalks with digital events, and will feature over 100 participating designers. Brands such as Molly Goddard, Richard Quinn, and Charles Jeffrey will once again garner the attention of photographers and fashion girls, while the return of Dior, JW Anderson, and Jimmy Choo is eagerly awaited.
More than half of the collections are shown digitally or through short presentations due to ongoing COVID precautions. The biggest IRL shows at fashion week will take place at London Fashion Week’s TikTok Showspace at the Old Selfridges Hotel. Other designers will honour local landmarks such as the British Library and the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Victoria Beckham will hold an appointment at her Dover Street store, while Roland Mouret will debut his film at the Soho Hotel.
The fashion festival is hosted by the British Fashion Council (BFC), in partnership with Clearpay. Speaking about the event, BFC Chief Executive, Caroline Rush, said:
“The initiative aims to bring visitors to the capital, reminding consumers of the vibrancy and excitement of London. With the participation of more than 100 brands, shops, hospitality venues and cultural institutions, we look forward to seeing the whole city come alive“.
