Issues for the certification of professional competence of barbers – hairdressers and conditions for participation in the examinations

The lists of subjects are now available to candidates for certification of professional competence
Hairdressers – Barbers and Hand and Foot Care Technicians.

This will therefore give interested parties reasonable time to prepare for their participation in the certification examinations before the opening of the application process, which will be announced through the www.eoppep.gr website.

The catalogues were compiled with the contribution of professionals and trainers in the field, Experts and Specialists
from the register of the EEAEPP, include theoretical and practical questions in the form of closed questions,
and the corresponding correct answers to make it easier and better prepare candidates.
Interested parties can start their preparation here or via the EEAEPP website under
‘CERTIFICATION OF THE PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCE OF HAIRDRESSERS, BARBERS AND CHIROPODISTS’.

Successful candidates will be awarded electronically, through a special application on the website of the E.O.P.P.E.P., the Professional Competence Certification level 3 of the National Qualifications Framework, in accordance with article 403 of Law. 4957/2022
which will enable them to obtain a professional licence.

To participate in the examinations, candidates must meet the following requirements – see the relevant Greek Official Journal.

Article 10
Terms, conditions and supporting documents required to participate in the examinations
The approx. g) of par. 2 and c) of par. 3, as well as par. 4 of article 239 of Law No. 4281/2014 still
apply until 31.12.2023 for those who meet, by 1.12.2022, the legal requirements
participation in the certification examinations provided for in those provisions.

Eligibility to participate in the examinations for the certification of professional competence of Hairdressers – Barbers or Hand and Foot Care Technicians, according to the provisions of article 403 of Law No. 4957/2022, have:

1.1 For the category of hairdressers – barbers, the requirements for participation in the certification examinations are
the following:

α) Certificate following attendance at a continuing vocational training programme of a duration of
at least six hundred (600) hours in a Lifelong Learning Centre (LLLC) or a Liberal Studies Laboratory,
with a completion date of 12.11.2012, in hairdressing and proven
two (2) years or six hundred (600) days’ experience, whether or not employed, in the relevant profession, in a hairdressing salon or barbershop, or in the case of teaching experience in the field of hairdressing, by 01/12/2022.
(b) Experts who have not had their certification examination
who have a degree and who have three (3) years or more of service up to 01/12/2022 or nine hundred (900) days of service,
with or without paid employment in a hairdressing salon or barber’s shop or with teaching experience in the field of hairdressing
or present a certificate of previous experience from a Local Government Organisation (O.T.A.) in the relevant profession.

In the case where the professional experience is teaching, the reduction of non-permanent teaching staff to years of full-time employment shall be made as set out in par. 6 of Article 3 of Decision No GP/20082/22.10.2012 (B 2844).

1.2. For the category of hand and foot care technicians, the requirements for participation in the certification examination are as follows:
α) Certificate following attendance at a continuing vocational training programme
of at least six hundred (600) hours in a K.D.B.M. or a Liberal Studies Laboratory,
with completion date until 12.11.2012, in the field of hand and foot care technician
and proven experience up to 01/12/2022 of two (2) years or six hundred (600) days’ service, with or without employment,
in the profession concerned, in a hairdresser’s or barber’s shop or in an establishment providing hand and foot care services,
or have teaching experience in the field of hand and foot care.
(b) In addition, experts who have not had their certification examination
degree and who have three (3) years or more of service or nine hundred (900) days of service by 01/12/2022,
in a hairdressing salon or barber’s shop or in an establishment providing hand and foot care services, whether or not employed
or, in the case of teaching experience in the field of hand and foot care, or a certificate of professional experience
from O.T.A. in the relevant profession.”.

In the case of professional experience in teaching, the reduction of non-permanent teaching staff to years of full-time teaching experience shall be based on the number of years of full-time teaching experience.

For non-EU foreign candidates, they are also required to have proof of a valid residence permit in Greece.

Candidates for participation in the examinations for the certification of professional competence of Hairdressers – Barbers or Hand and Foot Care Technicians, whenever they are held, pay the required examination fees and submit to the H.O.P.P.E.P.
an online application form with all the required documents attached in digital format,
in the manner specified in the relevant notice – invitation to open the certification examinations.

The application is accompanied by the following documents, which are sent in digital format:

i. Certificate of Successful Attendance of a Continuing Professional Training Programme for Hairdressers – Barbers or Hand and Foot Care Technicians of at least six hundred (600) hours duration from the relevant Lifelong Learning Centre or Liberal Studies Workshop, in accordance with the provisions of par. 1 of this Article.
ii. Document or documents showing proven experience up to 01/12/2022,
two (2) years or six hundred (600) days of paid or unpaid work.
Previous experience in the relevant profession (for the specialty of Hairdresser – Barber: in a hairdressing salon or barber shop and for the specialty of Hand and Foot Care Technician: in a hairdressing salon or barber shop or a business providing hand and foot care services.
The above documents are therefore accompanied by evidence of insurance or tax type or by a certificate of previous experience from a Local Government Organisation, on the basis of which the above experience is documented.
iii. For experts, a document or documents showing proven experience up to 01/12/2022,
three (3) years or nine hundred (900) days of paid or unpaid work.
Your professional experience must be in your profession (for the speciality of hairdresser – barber: in a hairdressing salon or barber’s shop and
for the specialty of hand and foot care technician: in a hairdresser’s or barber’s shop or business
which provides hand and foot care services.
The above documents are accompanied by evidence of insurance or tax type or by a certificate of previous experience from a Local Government Organization, on the basis of which the above experience is documented.
iv. A two-sided police or military ID card or, in the absence of an ID card, a clear photocopy of the critical pages of the passport (i.e. those on which the number and identity details of the holder are indicated).
In case of sending a passport, a birth certificate (for the indication of the father’s name) must also be sent.

For the homogeneity: Special Identity Card for Homogenous.

For Aliens: Identity card or passport of a citizen of a European Union Member State, translated birth certificate,
a certificate of registration as a citizen of a Member State of the European Union.

For non-EU foreigners, a proof of legal residence permit in Greece or a copy of the relevant certificate from a competent authority that an application for a residence permit in Greece has been submitted for the time of participation in the examinations is additionally required.
vi. Responsible declaration of article 8 of Law no. 1599/1986 in which they declare that:

All the information contained in this application is true and the attached scanned documents are true to the original.

In case of inaccuracy, I am aware that I will be subject to the consequences provided by the provisions of Law no. 1599/1986.

I accept the processing of my personal data for the needs and exclusively in the context of the organization and conduct of the
of the tests and communication of results as well as for any further statistical processing thereof.

I accept the keeping of an electronic file at the Hellenic National Organisation for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, which contains individual data,
information related to my CV (education and professional experience), as well as my contact details.

I agree and consent to the right of the H.O.P.P.P.E.P. to use, process and disclose the data,
I have submitted, if I have joined the Register of Hairdressers or the Register of Hand and Foot Care Technicians with certified Professional Competence, in accordance with the relevant applicable provisions of national law on the protection of personal data
and on safeguarding the confidentiality of communications.

Applications and supporting documents are also checked by an auditor included in the Sub-register of Assessors of the Register of Assessors of Supervisors, Auditors, Inspectors and Experts for the purpose of checking the completeness and compatibility of applications in accordance with the procedure
to be appointed by the Board of Directors of the H.O.P.P.P.E.P.

Of course, if the supporting documents are incomplete, applicants will be notified to provide the required
additional supporting documents to complete the completeness-compatibility of their application within a period of
to be appointed by the Board of Directors of the H.O.P.P.E.P. after a recommendation of the KEPECK.

After checking the data and the required supporting documents, the application is marked “complete”,
if it meets all the conditions laid down in this Article and all the supporting documents have been submitted
or ‘incomplete’, in the case where, after the expiry of the time limits set, it fails to meet all of the
the conditions laid down in this Article or where not all the supporting documents required have been submitted.

If your application is marked as ‘incomplete’, you will not be entitled to sit the tests,
the fees paid shall be deductible in favour of the Hellenic Statistical Office.

Finally, the result of the application check is communicated to the applicant via his/her electronic portfolio.
