Fashion designers: 4 new talents you need to know

The phrase “leap of faith”, or as we say in Greek “leap of faith”, must be indelibly written in the mind of every new fashion designer. Especially when fashion designers decide to “go it alone” with their own brand. Their clothes must clearly express their personal vision of the world. But they must also meet the social demand of diversity and inclusion, and always be made eco-friendly.

Let’s meet 4 young, talented fashion designers who manage to keep their eyes forward. They design with revolutionary creativity. They take into account gender identity, social representation and sustainability. While making bold and exciting clothes that bring the future into the now.

Vereja, Russia

For Igor Andreev and Masha Komarov, knitting is a way of life. The Russian duo has captured the hearts of Moscow’s discerning youth. Bamboo style sweater. Blouses in shades and textures reminiscent of creamy machine ice cream. Mini skirts in Easter egg tones. Nothing is ordinary for Vereja, a brand only a year old. They even make wedding veils spin like fisherman’s nets.

Seivson, Taipei

At first glance, Jill Shen’s Seivson collections look extremely feminine and romantic. But behind it is a sense of creepiness – sometimes even a threat of violence. She says they reflect women’s inherent bipolarity: “Sensitive, but they also have willpower, they can fight at any time.”

Yueqi Qi, Guangzhou

Yueqi Qi is a Chinese fashion and jewellery designer who envisions the old, with a look fresher than the moment itself. A graduate of Central Saint Martins with experience in Paris, including working with Chanel, Qi’s work is fun, colourful and breezy. It deals with issues that are not yet known with nostalgia. For example, the digital experiences of Gen Z, which exists in a virtual dimension.

Sanchez-Kane, Mexico

In recent years, Mexico City has emerged as a fashion hub in Latin America. One of the most successful labels to emerge from the Mexican scene is Barbara Sanchez-Kane’s eponymous brand. The 33-year-old designer, who studied at Polimoda in Florence and studied with Bernhard Willhelm in Los Angeles, belongs to a new generation of creatives who challenge gender norms. Her revealing leathers, trousers cut in unruly shapes, subverting traditional dress codes.
