Pandemic Covid-19

We have learned it, we have learned it, we have experienced it in our own skin.

As the Covid-19 pandemic is now in its second year, new fast-spreading mutations have caused an increase in infections in many countries.
Of course, their impact is enormous, with thousands of deaths recorded every day and the effect on the economy is devastating.

How the Covid-19 pandemic affected hairdressers.

Initially, at the first hearing of the lockdown everyone in the salon froze.
We all heard about a deadly virus, but we didn’t pay the proper attention to the seriousness of the situation, because it hadn’t reached our country yet.
And yet, it had come and none of us were prepared for what was to come along the way.

SHOCK SHOCK SHOCK SHOCK

And now what? Am I going to close my shop? For how long? And how am I going to pay my expenses?
Many questions that no one could answer, my colleague.

What we hairdressers did so that we could fight it.

First of all, most of us sat in our homes as we should have. With some exceptions, which I do not include among my colleagues.

We tried to settle for a daily routine we never imagined, endless hours of rest.

We searched, we found, we learned to manage social as we became experts in managing the laptop or even the PC.

We also got closer to our loved ones and gave them all the lost time back.

We met colleagues and were inspired by each other, exchanged views, made friends, mentors and gave time to education that we were missing.
We had plenty of time to be able to renovate our shops. Even to be able to put our warehouse in order with an inventory of our materials and products.

pandemic social distances

Effects on our mental health.

Many people due to the pandemic have experienced increased anxiety related to job insecurity for both employers and employees.
Consequently, many experienced stress due to family and financial pressures.

The Covid-19 pandemic has worsened the mental health of the general population.

All of us were affected in some way, either as a result of concerns about contamination or the stress caused by the strict measures imposed on us in our own shops.

However, most of us have found a way to be able to fight through it with the least amount of emotional loss because at our core we are people who have learned through hardship and can survive.

Even though we are distanced, even though we have been hiding our smile under the mask for two years now… Although we have all suffered huge financial losses, we are here stronger, united to face the future and the end of this adventure with optimism for better days for us and our children…

Yours sincerely,

Elizabeth Makri
